Also known as Flowering maple these plants are very common in horticulture. It had been slowly naturalised in areas of Central America. Flowers are either orange-red or yellow in colour and are of bell-shaped. The dark red veins of the flowers are very prominent and can be seen with naked eye. The flowers have five petals each of length from two centimetres to five centimetres long.
The other names of these flowers are Redvein abutilon, Redvein Chinese lanterns, Redvein Indian mellow, Chinese Lantern, Redvein flowering maple etc. the scientific names of these plants is Abutilon pictum. It belongs to the family of Malvaceae. The flowers usually attract hummingbirds and bees which help in pollination. It is a native plant from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay.

Watering must be done diligently while only sprinkling water on the plants will not be good for these plants as water will not reach the deeper roots resulting into the birth of fungus.
