Acorus Grass plant is a grass which grows in shady areas and near a water body. It does not spread rapidly but it is capable of withstanding any soil in which it is planted. This plant does well in moist conditions and is found in edges of ponds and rivers and they give a sweet smell.
It grows in poorly drained acidic and neutral soil, it likes wet soil.
Provide the plant with lots of water or plant the grass near the area with a water body so that it can survive
Since the plant is planted near the water, there is no need to water the plant because it takes water from the soil which is already wet.
If planted in areas that are not wet, then it should be watered often so that the soil does not get dry, dry soil gets the plant sick and it eventually dies.
It doesn't matter how much sunlight the plant gets, it is a slow growing plant and so little sunlight is enough for the plant, it also can withstand heavy lighting conditions.
Acorus Grass does not do well areas where sunlight is very less and the areas with very cold temperature. This plant cannot withstand cold regions.
The flower of this plant is small and yellowish green in colour.
This plant grows to a height of 12 inches and spread up to 15 inches which also can be grown inside until it gets large enough.
This plant is a slow growing plant and does not need fertilizer to grow. Fertilizer can be used, but it does not increase the growth rate that of the plant.
It is a water plant but can be grown on soil but make sure to not let it in the cold as it does not withstand cold. The leaves turn yellow due to cold and this is the indication that the plant should be kept warm.
Another big disadvantage is that its growth rate is very slow, it grows about 5 feet in 2 years.
