The Aechmea fasciata is also known as the Silver vase or Urn plant.

The plant is a native of Brazil and is well known for its large showy brightly coloured flowers.

The plant belongs to the family Bromeliad, a distinct family of flowering shrubs.

BASIC CARE

The Aechmea Fasciata is fairly easy to maintain if the basic care is provided.

The plant thrives well in both indoor and outdoor setting but when planted outdoors; it must be taken care that the region must remain frost free.

SIZE

The size of the plant can vary from 30 to 90 centimetres in height and spreads up to an area of 60 centimetres.

The plant has oval shaped leaves arranged in a basal rosette pattern.

SOIL

The plant can grow well in well drained and moderately fertile soil.

The Aechmea fasciata grows best in Orchid potting soil.

The plant prefers consistently moist soil.

LIGHTING

The light requirement of the Aechmea fasciata is quite high.

Best results are seen in the exposure of bright light. Ideally, the plant should be placed near east or west facing window.

WATERING
