Popularly known as Tulsi plant in India, this plant is mostly grown in regions of temperate climates as a type of annual herb. This plant is pleasant to view and is an upright open-branched tree. The odor of this plant is also attractive and it’s like cloves sometimes.
The scientific name of this plant is Ociumum tenuiflorum. It is a native plant from India. It belongs to the family of Lamiaceae. This plant is known for its medicinal uses as the whole plant including its leaves, body, seeds and etc are used for medicinal purposes. It tastes good especially when the dried leaves of this plant is put brewed with tea.
The plant is very easy to germinate and very easy to grow.
It must be sown in early spring or summer indoor or in greenhouse or directly in the garden just beneath the soil's surface.

The plant also prefers hot and humid climate.
After it grows to a height of two feet to three feet, the flowering starts in the summer season in the form of spikes.
The flowers are pretty small and pink in colour.
The plants grow to a height from seventy five centimetres to ninety centimetres.
Application of liquid fertilizer which is balanced can be applied to the plant once within a couple of weeks.
Replacing the layer of soil from the top with soil rich in compost also can enhance the growth.
It is mainly used for a number of medicinal purposes like in cases of a cough and cold, lower metabolism, stress and etc.
