The Crataeva nurvala is famously known as the sacred Barna plant. It hails from the Capparaceae family.

The Barna tree is native to India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, and Malaysia and is widely grown for its medicinal uses.

BASIC CARE

The Barna tree is a medicinal herb that can do well with minimum maintenance.

The plant produces greenish-yellow flowers during the months of April and May.

The plant long tap roots so well dug, loose and well drained soil should be preferred during its plantation.

SIZE

The Sacred Barna tree is valued a lot for its medicinal importance. It can grow up to a maximum height of 25 metres.

LIGHTING

The sacred Barna tree should be exposed to full sun for perfect growth.

The plant is considered ideal to be grown in a region that receives bright sun for a long duration.

WATERING

The sacred Barna tree has moderate water requirements.

The plant should not be allowed to stand in water as it leads to root rot.

Subsequent gaps must be maintained during watering the plant.
