It is a native perennial tropical plant from Eastern Africa, South Africa, Northeastern Africa and Kenya. This plant belongs to the family of Araceae. The scientific name of this plant is Zamioculcas zamiifolia. It has been used commercially since 1996. The flowers are bright yellow in colour or in bronze or brown. The flowers are found as if hidden partly in the leaf base. The leaves have a natural shine. It is a herbaceous plant with a succulent rhizome. Though it is an evergreen plant it may show deciduous features during the time of the drought. It can survive the drought due to the presence of the rhizomes.
