Aglaonema Brilliant is one of the varieties of the aglaonema. They belong to the family of Araceae. It is a fast-growing foliage plant. There are more than 300 varieties of aglaonema.

It is also known as Chinese evergreen believed to have originated in the southeast of Asia.

BASIC CARE

Aglaonema requires low maintenance.

The reason that the plant is preferred in the office spaces is that the plant can grow under any artificial fluorescent lights.

SIZE

The plant can reach up to the height of 2 feet.

Usually, they are stout and broad. Plant the aglaonema in a huge pot with soil filled more than 6 inches.

LIGHTING

The plant has lower light needs and thus it can be kept in a shady area of your house.

If it is budding plant then 2 to 4 hours of direct sunlight could be provided to the plant. Place the plant is such a location where it receives ample of indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it could get your plant leggy or even burnt.

WATERING

As the plant prefers partial sunlight the water needs are also moderate.

Don't over water the aglaonema as it would cause root rot.

In case the plant receives low light then let the soil dry out completely before watering the plant and if the Aglaonema is planted under bright light then let the 3/4 of potting mix dry out completely before watering.

3 to 5 cups of water would be sufficient.

Avoid watering in winters.

SOIL

The plant requires a potting mix soil comprising of peat, perlite, and vermiculite. Avoid repotting of the plant as mostly the plant loves condensed pots.

A well draining granular textured soil would also work for the plant.

FLOWERING

It is a non-flowering plant. The stems are pure white in color with three shades of leaves - silver, white and green.

FERTILIZERS

Feed the aglaonema before the spring.

Fertilizers rich of NPK i.e. nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous should be used for the plant. The plant is very delicate, feeding the plant twice a year would be sufficient.

Fertilize the aglaonema when it has halted its growth and not blooming properly. Check the plant at times to know the amount of feeding required by the plant.
