There are two ways of growing the coconut plant.

The plant requires full and direct sunlight. The plant loves warm climate and moisture.
4 to 5 hours of sunlight would be sufficient for the coconut plant.
It gets difficult for the coconut to grow under cold climate. During the winters, place your coconut palm inside to protect it.
Water the coconuts frequently, although make sure that the soil drains well. The plant requires a moderate amount of water.
5 to 6 cups of water is sufficient.
Make sure you don't water it too often.
Coconuts are heavy feeders. Add regular fertilizers which are rich in boron , manganese, and magnesium.

It is rare that the coconut bears flowers. They bloom between the months of May and June. The flowers are usually red wine in color with white markings on it.
The basic and average budding height of the coconut trees grows from 0.75 to 1 feet.
