Needs a large amount of sunlight and soil should be fertile, well-drained and alkaline.

WATERING

Watering the dianthus is done once in a week but during the blooming period, water it once in two days.

SOIL

The soil should be fertile, fast draining and alkaline nature with a pH balance around 6.75 level.

Make sure that the plants are planted at a distance of 12-18 feet so that proper growth can be maintained.

LIGHTING

At least four to five hours of bright sunlight is needed for the proper growth of this plant.

FLOWERING

Choose perennial plants for better blooming as it stays all-round the year blooming as other varieties bloom only in specific periods and the perennial variety is also available in rainbow colors.

The flowers can be maintained for a long period by proper maintenance of the lighting and watering.

Remove dead flowers to make the plant bloom more as the seeds are present in the dead flowers and in order to produce more seeds, it blooms more.

SIZE

It can grow up to an immense height from 6 inches to 36 inches and can spread for 4 to 18 inches wide.

FERTILISING

Use 2 parts of compost and 1 part of manure while planting the seeds of flowers.

Feed the plant with a liquid fertilizer for six to eight weeks for the better growth and better blooming of flowers.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Watering should be done at the base of the plant and not on the plant as no water should stay on the leaves or stem.

Remove the dead and faded flowers as it would encourage blooming in the plant by removing seeds of dead flowers.
