It is an evergreen perennial plant from the family Asparagaceae. They are commonly known as Mother-in-law's tongue. These plants are ideal houseplants to grow indoors.

Basic Care

It is virtually impossible to kill a Snake plant. The only precaution to be taken is not to give it too much or absolutely no water.


Snake plants can survive under any intensity of sunlight. But they prefer indirect sunlight, they can also grow under dim light.


These plants don't need much watering. In Fact, it is better to let the soil dry out before watering the plants. During winters the watering should be reduced to once in a fortnight.


These plants flourish in soils with good drainage capacity. Sandy or loamy soil is ideal for its growth.


The snake plant grows approximately 3 to 4 feet tall.

A mild cactus fertilizer should be enough for this plant. They should not be fertilized during the winter.
