Ziziphus Mauritiana is a fruit-bearing tree known for its small plum-like fruits called Ber. These fruits are popular in Arid parts of the country where this plants is grown. This plant is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia, now popular throughout the world.
Ziziphus Mauritiana is the botanical name for Indian jujube. Some call it chine/chinkee apple while in the south-east of Asia it is known as the Chinese date. This is a small sized subtropical tree. In India, the plant is most commonly known as 'Ber'(Indian plum). This plant grows in semi-arid or arid regions. You can propagate the tree with the seeds but it may take around 5 and a half years for propagation.

Ziziphus Mauritiana requires moderate maintenance. They have a very minimal need of resources, but a gardener should pay attention during the growing month of the plant.

Ziziphus are mostly prone to fruit flies and caterpillars. They attack the foliage of the plant and eat the sweetest fruits of the tree. Various mites also affect the branches of the plant. You can get rid of it by spraying organic pesticides. Spray some pesticides during the growing season of the ber cause in that duration the plant is more prone to mealy bugs and fruit flies.
