Ziziphus Mauritiana is the botanical name for Indian jujube. Some call it chine/chinkee apple while in the south-east of Asia it is known as the Chinese date. This is a small sized subtropical tree. In India, the plant is most commonly known as 'Ber'(Indian plum). This plant grows in semi-arid or arid regions. You can propagate the tree with the seeds but it may take around 5 and a half years for propagation.

The plant belongs to Rhamnaceae family.

BASIC CARE

Ziziphus Mauritiana requires moderate maintenance. They have a very minimal need of resources, but a gardener should pay attention during the growing month of the plant.

SIZE

The average height of the plant is around 2 to 3 meter. Ziziphus is a usually small sized tree with drooping branches. The girth of the trunk measure around 80cm.

SOIL

Ziziphus needs well-draining loamy soil.The plant grows well in the warm climate, so a well granular sandy soil would also be sufficient for the Ziziphus. A mature ber roots are capable of tolerating salinity and drought. The ph value of the soil should range from 6 to 7.5.
